Abstract

In this study, the presence of trace residues of pesticides in mango has been evaluated using liquid chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometry, which enables accurate mass measurements to obtain elemental compositions allowing analyte identification. A UHPLC-QTOF-MS system with electrospray ionization operated in the positive ion mode was used combined with solvent extraction with acetonitrile (QuEChERS-based) sample preparation. The pesticides were detected using a suspect screening approach based on accurate mass measurements of selected pesticides. A database of 416 pesticides was prepared using the protonated molecules of the studied compounds, using MassHunter Qualitative Software. Up to 6 pesticides were identified, and further confirmation was carried out with neat solvents.
