Abstract

In this end-of-degree project, a short overview of existing quantification methods for the determination of phytohormones and growth regulators in plant samples has been carried out. This work consists of a brief introduction to contextualise what phytohormones and plant growth regulators are and what function each performs in different body areas. For this reason, it is crucial to know the plant physiology to know at what point strictly they perform their functions, explaining this in detail. On the other hand, the sample treatment of each phytohormone will be detailed, generally based on an extraction using acetonitrile as extraction solvent. Subsequently, the current analytical methods for its determination will be deeply explained. The most commonly employed are based on liquid chromatography and gas chromatography with UV detectors and mass spectrometry.
