ESTUDIO Y EVALUACIÓN DEL ÍNDICE DE ACTIVIDAD FÍSICA Y CONDUCTA SEDENTARIA EN EL 3o CICLO DE EDUCACIÓN PRIMARIA

Abstract

Nowadays, the students present a high degree of sedentary behavior and consequently, low levels of physical activity after school time, mainly, due to the inclusion of new technologies, the so- called “screen time”. The present work aims to evaluate the level of physical activity and sedentary behavior in the 3rd cycle of the Primary Education. A total of 108 schoolchildren completed a questionnaire on the frequency of physical activity and sedentary behavior index throughout a week. The main results showed that schoolchildren perform a general mean of 2.90 days of physical activity / week, being higher in boys (2.95 days / week) than in girls (2.84 days / week). Exposed the above, the high index of sedentary behavior among students is confirmed, being a public health problem, having the educational community a transcendental role to reverse this situation.
