Abstract

The following study examines beta diversity in the primary succession of mycorrhizal fungí. Beta diversity measures the degree of species replacement and it is also defined as similarities between communities through environmental gradients. Primary succession refers to the compositional changes of species over time as they establish in a lifeless biotope. The objective of this study is to review the experimental finding in primary succession of mycorrhizal fungí. In studies conducted in mines and according to the analysis carried out, beta diversity tends to increase with the age of the site in general. In case of volcanoes and glaciers, there was no clear change in beta diversity as the sequence progressed. However, the limited number of studies found makes this last result indecisive.
