Partiendo de Siloé y su portada del Perdón de la Catedral de Granada, Andrés de Vandelvira realiza con ciertas diferencias la principal del Salvador de Úbeda, convirtiéndola en una portada-retablo. La obra será punto de partida para una serie de portadas giennenses y para la introducción del lenguaje del retablo como arquitectura en la provincia de Jaén. En la de Granada, aparte de en Guadahortuna, la del Perdón no tendrá descendencia directa: el paradigma para las parroquiales de la provincia será el tipo de otras portadas de su Catedral, y sus retablos se convertirán al lenguaje arquitectónico algo más tardíamente.
