Aplicación del modelo biopsicosocial para la comprensión de la calidad de vida y el pronóstico en el cáncer hematológico

Abstract

Este trabajo se inscribe dentro de un marco de referencia biopsicosocial que abarca las relaciones e influencias que pueden establecerse entre variables psicológicas, factores sociales y factores psicoendocrinológicos contemplados como mecanismos mediadores en la progresión de una enfermedad, en este caso cancerígena, y en la calidad de vida resultante de los pacientes. Este estudio pretende abarcar por un lado, el aspecto psicooncológico al atender las áreas psicológicas y sociales del cáncer, y por otro, el aspecto psiconeuroinmunológico al atender las áreas psicológicas y sociales del cáncer, y por otro, el aspecto psiconeuroinmunológico. En este sentido se pone especial énfasis en la interacción entre las emociones y el funcionamaiento inmunológico tanto en la predisposición a la una enfermedad como en el progreso y pronóstico de la misma. Los resultados de estas interacciones plantean la posibilidad de que los factores psicológicos puedan influenciar, a través de la actividad humoral, los procesos inmunes, además de que éstos últimos puedan afectar al área emocional del paciente.
