Las plataformas del Jurásico Medio en un sector del subbético central

Abstract

Esta tesis doctoral, aborda los procesos sedimentarios y tectónicos implicados en la instalación, desarrollo y posterior abandono de las plataformas carbonatadas someras en las que se depositaron la Formación Jabalcuz y la Formación Camarena en el margen meridional de la placa Ibérica durante el Jurásico Medio. Estas formaciones aparecen actualmente al sur de las provincias de Jaén, Córdoba y Sevilla. Los estudios realizados ponen de manifiesto que la apertura progresiva del Tethys hacia el Oeste, provoco la fracturación y el basculamiento de bloques, donde la sedimentación carbonatada somera se instaló en las zonas menos profundas. Procesos tectónicos y eustáticos similares a los que favorecieron el inicio de la plataforma, condicionaron su desarrollo y provocaron su posterior desaparición.
