Abstract

Human beings are communicative by nature since they are in an inter-subjective relationship with others as well as with their living environment. The prevailing globalisation has allowed new alternatives and multimedia paradigms to become evident in the context of intercommunication processes based on the emerging information and communication technologies. This reality of intercommunicative approximation has become tangible from the virtual scenarios that give rise to social networks and their incidence as telematic tools at the service of journalistic work and its interference in communication. The aim of this article is to carry out a reflective exercise by firstly addressing the conceptualisation of social networks. Secondly, an approach is made to the characteristics and social relevance of the networks to end with an analysis of the impact of the networks on journalistic practice and their projective work in communication.
