The purpose of this paper is to examine long wave propagation in a shallow channel of triangular cross section. Solutions for small scale (f = 0) , large scale (f ^ o) , symmetric and asymmetric channels are obtained. Results are shown to be consistent with earlier work for the fundamental mode (tA = O) , and with edgewave solutions over a gently sloping bottom for the higher modes. A second class of waves (quasigeostrophic waves) is also obtained when the Coriolis effect is included. The results are compared with those for a rectangular channel.
