Luxury on the Horizon in KSA

Abstract

In this article, Hala Matar Choufnay gives insight into how the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is seeking to achieve its Vision 2030 goals of becoming a top destination and provider of an excellent tourism experience. From business travelers to leisure, they have something everyone. While the UAE is currently ahead, KSA is just behind it and making strides of growth to bring tourism up to contributing at least 10% to its GDP, rather than the 4% that is made up of the GDP (as of 2019).

"Vision 2030 aims to increase travel and tourism contribution to GDP from 4 percent (2019) to 10 percent 2030) by attracting 100 million international and domestic overnight visits by the beginning of the next decade. Recent changes include women empowerment, the easing of visa regulations, incentives for foreign investment, more cinemas and entertainment venues as well as a number of legislative changes that support tourism growth", (Choufnay, 2021)
