Cobertura del riesgo cambiario en un mercado con restricciones

Abstract

En países donde existe una necesidad apremiante de frenar el deterioro de la balanza de pagos, suelen aparecer desdoblamientos cambiarios formales o informales. La relativa escasez de divisas genera restricciones a su compra y derivan en el nacimiento de mercados paralelos. En dicho contexto, los instrumentos financieros tradicionales de cobertura pueden tornarse inadecuados e insuficientes frente a un nuevo valor de la divisa, a un nuevo tipo de cambio, el cambio libre o paralelos. Entre las paridades cambiarias alternativas, se encuentra el denominado contado con liquidación (CCL), que resulta del tipo de cambio implícito en las cotizaciones de títulos bimonetarios listados en mercados locales e internacionales. El objetivo de este trabajo es desarrollar y probar una opción sintética de cobertura que pueda cubrir el riesgo cambiario en torno al tipo de cambio contado con liquidación, así como el de determinar su eficacia, y construir un modelo de equilibrio de dicha cobertura.
