Desarrollo de un modelo computacional del sitio activo de la metionina sintasa

Abstract

Las transferencias de grupos metilo resultan de interés a nivel biológico por su influencia en el mantenimiento de la integridad del material genético. En los seres vivos, esta reacción se lleva a cabo por medio de complejos enzimáticos. Un sistema conocido es el de la Metionina Sintasa que tiene a la Metilcobalamina como su cofactor. Dicha reacción puede ser aprovechada para la síntesis de moléculas orgánicas de interés industrial que requieran la adición de un grupo metilo a su estructura. Actualmente, sólo se cuenta con estrategias estequiométricas y no catalíticas como la reacción de Grignard. Así, el estudio de este sistema enzimático puede llevar en un futuro a la síntesis de biomiméticas con interés industrial.
