Abstract

El presente trabajo de grado hace parte de una línea investigativa en neurociencias que se ha venido desarrollando en el laboratorio de Fisiología animal de la Universidad Icesi y está enfocada en el Accidente Cerebrovascular (ACV) que más prevalencia tiene, la isquemia cerebral. Actualmente no existe una estrategia farmacológica estandarizada que permita disminuir la pérdida de las neuronas de la penumbra isquémica, por ende, se espera profundizar en el entendimiento mediante el cual las neuronas sobreviven frente a un evento de estrés celular, originado por dicho ACV. Se ha observado en otros órganos como el corazón, que el precondicionamiento isquémico es un mecanismo adaptativo intrínseco que aumenta la supervivencia celular del órgano en cuestión, sin embargo, las investigaciones en materia de precondicionamiento isquémico cerebral están en su fase temprana aún, y por lo tanto, falta por esclarecer las vías de señalización mediante las cuales éste opera.
