Abstract

Estudios nacionales e internacionales sobre enfermedades asociadas al cuidado de la salud e infecciones nosocomiales, han reportado el impacto económico-social en términos de costos y mortalidad que tienen los procesos de vigilancia y control de microrganismos en áreas críticas de instituciones hospitalarias. Aunque el tema se encuentra muy desarrollado en países como Estados Unidos, donde se han establecido guías de higiene, saneamiento y limpieza, en Colombia aún, queda mucho por recorrer para alcanzar los objetivos de minimizar la incidencia de infecciones nosocomiales y el control de patógenos resistentes con los procesos y productos de desinfección.
