Abstract

El presente trabajo de grado está enmarcado en un proyecto investigativo en el área de neurociencias desarrollado en la Universidad Icesi, orientado en la comprensión de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas para el tratamiento de enfermedades cerebrovasculares (ECV) como la isquemia cerebral. En la actualidad se carece de fármacos especializados cuya efectividad esté comprobada en atenuar la pérdida neuronal en las diferentes fases de la cascada isquémica, siendo una de ellas la excitotoxicidad en la región directamente afectada por la obstrucción de la arteria y los fenómenos exofocales que afectan a regiones alejadas del territorio irrigado por el vaso obstruido.
