Gestión de riesgo del flujo de caja para empresas no financieras (CFaR)

Abstract

La gestión de riesgo en las empresas no financieras como las grandes aerolíneas o las cerveceras es hoy tan común e importante como la gestión de riesgo en bancos o en fondos mutuos de inversión. En 1993, JP Morgan fue pionera en el desarrollo de un sistema de cuantificación de riesgo que fue conocida como Valor en Riesgo o por sus siglas en inglés VaR, pero este sistema solo tenía aplicación práctica para empresas financieras. Ante la necesidad de un sistema que cuantificara el riesgo al que están expuestas las empresas del sector industrial, comercial y tecnológico, se desarrollaron nuevos enfoques derivados de la idea de VaR. Así, aprovechando el marco teórico “at Risk” surgieron nuevos procedimientos aplicables a las empresas no financieras, como EaR (Earnings at Risk), EPSaR (Earnings per share at Risk) y CFaR (Cash Flow at Risk).
