Al ser los plásticos “un material importante para variedad de sectores industriales, la demanda mundial aumenta continuamente” (Tecnologia del Plástico, 2013), razón por la cual se generan grandes cantidades de desechos, surgiendo la problemática del impacto ambiental negativo que estos generan, ya que perduran por muchas años y se derivan de un recurso no renovable, como lo es el petróleo (Meneses et al, 2007).

The reason why large amounts of waste are generated, emerging from the problem of negative environmental impact that they generate, is because for many years plastics are derived from a nonrenewable resource, as is petroleum (Meneses et al, 2007).
