Este artículo analiza el consumo cultural en Cali, con base en el cálculo de la elasticidad ingreso de la demanda de bienes y servicios culturales, a diferencia de estudios anteriores que utilizan datos agregados de educación y cultura. Empleando la Encuesta de Ingresos y Gastos de 2006-2007, se encuentra que la elasticidad de la demanda en Cali es cercana a 1 (0,99), pero diferente de 1 a un nivel del 95%, de modo que no se puede afirmar categóricamente que los bienes y servicios culturales son de lujo.
