El Queremal: un sitio arqueológico periférico de la región Calima

Abstract

Dentro de las perspectivas de investigación en la costa pacífica colombiana y en la vertiente oeste de la cordillera occidental, actualmente desarrollados por el INCIVA, se planteó la posibilidad de adelantar un proyecto arqueológico a nivel de monografía en la cuenca alta del río Anchicayá y específicamente en el alto Dagua, principal afluente de este río. La investigación se adelanta actualmente gracias al apoyo financiero de la FIAN y a la colaboración del INCIVA, como requisito previo para obtener el título de antropóloga en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Administrativamente, la zona de estudio se ubica en el sur-occidente del departamento del Valle del Cauca, municipio de Dagua, corregimiento del Queremal, el cual se encuentra a 1.460 m.s.n.m. y su temperatura promedio es de 18 0C. (Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi, 1.980); aunque se incluyeron también otras áreas ecológicas diferentes que abarcaron alturas desde los 1.500 m. s.n.m. hasta los 900 m.s.n.m. La ejecución de este proyecto arqueológico, permite hasta el momento, tener un conocimiento parcial de los grupos prehispánicos que habitaron la región: así como obtener una información y evaluación de los recursos arqueológicos del área, los cuales se ignoraban debido a la deficiencia de estudios.
