Abstract

This work shows the results of the archaeology rescue researches done in the capital of the Valle del Cauca department, Cali, Colombia, during the month of august of 1996. The most interesting traces appear in the construction of very narrow square pitfunerary spaces, with semioval lateral chambers and drawings of the types of living places used. This demonstrates the deep believing in the existence of “other lives”. The formal characteristic and style of the tombs and the record of collective human inhumations allows to relate this practices with late prehispanic groups that lived in the southern zone of the geographic valley of the Cauca river during the XII and XVI centuries a. C.
