Abstract

El incremento de bacterias multirresistentes a los antibióticos y a la escasez de nuevos antibióticos en desarrollo subraya la necesidad de explorar alternativas para hacer frente a patógenos resistentes. Los principales metabolitos de Cannabis sativa, los cannabinoides, han sido investigados por su potencial actividad antimicrobiana. El objetivo de esta investigación es evaluar la actividad antibacteriana de los extractos de Cannabis Sativa, quimiotipos II, III y IV y de los cannabinoides, cannabidiol, cannabigerol y cannabidivarina, frente a Escherichia coli y Staphylococcus aureus. La evaluación de la actividad antimicrobiana se realizó mediante el método de difusión en pocillos y dilución en agar. Los resultados mostraron que los extractos y cannabinoides presentaron actividad antimicrobiana contra S. aureus, pero no contra E. coli. El CBG exhibió mayor actividad antibacteriana que el CBD, y este a su vez mayor que el CBDV, según los valores de concentración mínima inhibitoria. Además, los cannabinoides puros presentaron mayor actividad que los extractos. No se encontró una correlación significativa entre el quimiotipo y la CMI. Este estudio respalda el potencial de los cannabinoides como una alternativa terapéutica prometedora contra infecciones por bacterias Gram positivas como S. aureus.
