Abstract

Introducción general sobre la región para ubicar al grupo taiwano dentro de un conjunto de comunidades. El hilo conductor del análisis sigue el carácter e importancia del territorio como fundamentador de relaciones sociales y su presencia como categoría de identidad para los taiwano y otras comunidades indígenas de la región. Los rasgos señalados se desprenden del análisis anterior de un corpus mítico que se reproduce como narración central para la comunidad del caño Piedra ; eje conceptual que se propone como modelo ideal de la estructura social confrontado con información etnográfica.

Este material es producto de la investigación sobre organización social que se ha venido desarrollando entre las comunidades indígenas de la región del Vaupés. Un modelo básico sobre estructura social y patrones de residencia se introduce de acuerdo con la referencia de los taiwano, comunidad del río Pirá-Paraná.
