RESUMEN: A lo largo de esta revisión teórica se va a tratar el tema del ocio y tiempo libre, tanto en nuestro país como en la comunidad de Cantabria. Asimismo, se relacionará la importancia que tiene la animación sociocultural y turística con el disfrute y utilidad del tiempo libre para la sociedad moderna. Por otro lado se realizará una investigación sobre las prospectivas de futuro al trabajar como monitor y animador de tiempo libre así como el salario que va a percibir este profesional.

ABSTRACT: Throughout this theoretical review will treat the issue of leisure time, both in our country and in the community of Cantabria. Also, it will be treated the importance of cultural and tourist activities with enjoyment and utility of leisure for modern society will relate.
