ABSTRACT: This project is aimed at those people who feel a special interest in the complex situation of the Bank who has lived over the past years and that has impacted on the economy creating liquidity difficulties. The banking sector has been severely affected by the economic crisis causing uncertainty and instability in the financial market as a result. Considering this situation, it has proceeded to conduct a study of the evolution of the balance sheet and the income statement of the banks most important in Spain, such as Banco Santander and BBVA, and on hand, we have taken into account the results obtained from the set of entities in the sector. On the other hand, there have been changes in the regulations governing the financial statements, so it has been to define each of the categories that make up the balance of accounts and the statement of income, as well as indicate the changes that have occurred in the structure. Therefore, it has explored various forms of research, descriptive techniques using ratios such as statistical models in order to achieve a better understanding of the situation that they have faced banks over a period between the year 2005 until the year 2015, and you have created a database from the information published by the Spanish Banking Association. Briefly, it can be concluded that the most relevant years have been in 2008 and the year 2012. These have marked a change that has been reflected through a turning point in the activity of these companies. Despite the fact that the graphics show a slight change to the end of the period, there is still a high level of uncertainty, which has been amplified in recent times as a result of political instability, despite the efforts made and measures taken. These conditions have been a challenge for banks, since they have fought this situation by raising the level of interest of their credits, and on the other hand, increasing restrictions, in order to obtain certain guarantees of return.

RESUMEN: El objetivo de este trabajo fin de Grado es realizar una comparativa a las dos entidades financieras más grandes de España, como son el Banco Santander y el BBVA, y el conjunto del sector. Cualquier interesado podrá comprobar cómo han evolucionado los principales ratios bancarios durante un intervalo de tiempo de 10 diez años, comenzando a finales del año 2005, y terminando en el año 2015. Este tipo de contenidos no es propio del Grado en Administración y Dirección de empresas, lo que me ha permitido ahondar en la materia y abarcar mayores conocimientos en los métodos estadísticos y realizar un análisis de la situación bancaria de las dos entidades de referencia en España y el conjunto del sector. Otro de los temas abordados son los estados contables de las entidades. Estos se han visto expuestos a cambios con el fin de adaptarse a los nuevos productos financieros. El interés de este tema reside en la información obtenida a partir de los diversos índices explorados. Estos evalúan desde distintos puntos de vista la actividad de las entidades. De entre ellos, cabe destacar el Tier 1, que actualmente se utiliza como uno de los indicadores que describen la solvencia de una entidad, o por ejemplo, el ratio de volumen de créditos. A estas circunstancias habría que añadir la imposición de nuevas normativas que se han ido desarrollando a lo largo de tiempo con el fin de regular la situación, y evitar posibles quiebras y desperfectos que pudieran ocasionar la mala gestión de las entidades bancarias o inestabilidad ocasionada por los mercados. Estos nuevos procedimientos acordados se han recogido en los diferentes acuerdos de Basilea I, II, III. En el resto del trabajo se compone de una definición en profundidad de los estados contables, además de seleccionar de los principales ratios bancarios. También, se ha procedido a aplicar modelos estadísticos, como el modelo de regresión lineal, con el fin de medir el comportamiento de las series seleccionadas.
