Political marketing: voter behavior and communication
Authors: Valdés Alonso, Patricia;

Marketing político: comportamiento del votante y comunicación

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this work is to show the importance of voter behavior and communication upon political marketing. The first thing is to study what moves voters and which are the reasons that determine their political behavior or motivate the direction of their votes. We will show theoretically the different patterns established throughout history that explain voters behavior. After that we will analyze the relation between the consumer behavior in the goods and services market and voters behavior in the Spanish electoral market giving actual data that allows to define voters profile from the four political forces cohabiting in Spain at the moment. The second part of the work has the main aim of showing the importance of communication in the development of political Exchange. The purpose of political communication is always to send a message but social groups change, new voters appear, same as political parties and new Media. For this reason it is necessary that politicians anticípate to these changes and adapt communication strategies to voters and society. Finally, we will study the power of social networks upon politics and social movements, giving examples of recent situations lived in Spain and Guatemala as it is “The movement 15M” and “The Revolution” respectively.
