RESUMEN: A lo largo del siglo XX la distribución de la producción en los países desarrollados ha cambiado de forma sustancial. A este hecho se le ha denominado cambio estructural. El peso del sector servicios se ha ido incrementando ocupando en la actualidad a un 68,41% de la población empleada española. Simultáneamente la participación laboral de la mujer ha ido en aumento en las últimas décadas y la brecha salarial entre hombres y mujeres se ha reducido considerablemente. Este trabajo de fin de grado tiene como objetivo estudiar la relación existente entre el cambio estructural y la evolución de la tasa de empleo femenina y de la brecha salarial en España durante el período 1988 a 2008. Utilizando diversas herramientas se realiza un análisis descriptivo de esta cuestión y se contrastaran los resultados obtenidos en la literatura para otros países.
ABSTRACT: Throughout the twentieth century the production distribution has changed in the developed countries. This fact is called structural transformation. Nowadays the service sector employs 68.51% of the Spanish working population. Simultaneously, the participation rate of women has increased in recent decades and the gender wage gap has considerably decreased. This essay focuses on the relationship between these variables in the case of the Spanish economy. Using several tools this essay offers a descriptive analysis of this question and the results are compared with those in the literature for other countries.
