Abstract

ABSTRACT: This aim of this paper is to analyse wage incentive according to the level of education that workers have in Spain. Using the Wage Structure Survey by the National Statistical Institute, we study the period from 2006 to 2010. We estimate Mincer (1974) equations by using the Ordinary Least Square. Subsequently, we analyse wages associated with each level of education and the profitability from reaching determined levels of education. The importance of having a high level of qualification on earned wages increased over that time period. Moreover, workers have chosen to obtain a higher level of qualification. The profitability of obtaining a certain level of qualification is positive and higher in 2010 than in 2006 for more advanced qualifications.
