El contacto piel con piel : beneficios y limitaciones

Abstract

El contacto precoz piel con piel tras el parto es una práctica beneficiosa tanto para el recién nacido como para los padres, contribuyendo al establecimiento del vínculo y la adaptación postnatal. El contacto piel con piel consiste en colocar al recién nacido boca abajo, desnudo, en contacto piel con piel sobre el abdomen o pecho de la madre durante los 120 minutos tras el nacimiento, taparle con una manta precalentada y cubrirle con un gorro seco. Es necesario la supervisión del recién nacido durante el tiempo que se realiza el contacto piel con piel, bien por un profesional sanitario, por la madre o por un acompañante convenientemente informado y conocer los aspectos a vigilar en el recién nacido (tono, coloración de la piel y respiración). En algunos hospitales existe una demora en iniciar el contacto en determinadas circunstancias según la forma de nacimiento, y con ello, una privación en los beneficios que conlleva realizar el contacto piel con piel inmediato. Es importante el papel del Personal Sanitario, ya que de su actuación depende el inicio de esta intervención lo más precoz posible y la posibilidad de realizarla en las mejores condiciones para obtener los beneficios que aporta este contacto íntimo.
