Pain during labor is a complex and subjective experience that involves both physical and emotional factors. Traditionally, its management has focused on pharmacological methods, such as epidural analgesia. However, in recent decades, interest in non-pharmacological techniques has increased as effective, less invasive alternatives with fewer adverse effects. Through a literature review, various nonpharmacological interventions are explored, such as hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, acupuncture, and accompaniment, among others. The results reflect that many of these strategies can reduce pain perception, improve maternal well-being, and promote a more natural birth. The nurse has fundamental role in education, accompaniment, and application of these techniques during the birthing process is also highlighted.
