This Final Degree Project collects the data obtained from patients who visited the Emergency Department during the months of July and August 2021 and 2022 and who were treated at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital. These data were collected and analysed in order to determine the possible relationship between the increase in ambient temperatures and patients' demands on the Emergency Department. A cross-sectional observational study was carried out, in which statistical analyses were performed on the ambient temperature and the diagnoses of the patients who attended the Emergency Department. The general aims of the study were to investigate the role of heat on health and the specific aims were to analyse ambient temperature and its effect on demand in an emergency department. The results of the analyses did not show an association between temperature and ED demand for syncope or asthma attacks, but were statistically significant for general deterioration and upper and lower respiratory tract infections.
