Antigitanismo escolar y miradas gitanas sobre Educación Infantil (actividades complementarias y extraescolares)

Abstract

The present work addresses the topic/subject of racism and anti-gypsyism. Subsequently, it goes deep into school anti-gypsyism in Spain, in which ideas about segregation and intercultural education appear. In addition, in order to make known the views of gypsy families concerning the Early Childhood Education stage, research has been carried out on two aspects in particular: supplementary and extracurricular activities. For this, qualitative methodology and indepth interviews were used. A script composed of a series of questions was used as an instrument. The results obtained show that the Romá cultures are heterogeneous and diverse. Finally, some conclusions have been developed on the key ideas worked throughout the research. One of them is the existence of anti-gypsyism from teachers, although it does not seem to be a conscious racism.
