Abstract

The main aim of this study is to reconstruct the subsistence strategies achieved the hunter-gatherers who inhabited the Altamira Cave, specifically during Gravettian, which belong to the Level VIII identified during the last archaeological excavation undertaken between 2004 and 2006. In this Master dissertation, an archaeozoological study of the macrofauna recovered in the vestibular cave settlement known as the “kitchen”, has been carried out to identify the origin of the bone assemblaget, the type of animals and anatomical elements represented, and the different taphonomical processes which took place in the deposit long its formation.
