Anatomía molecular del desarrollo embrionario

Abstract

In this work we review the expression pattern of a group of important genes in the embryonic morphogenesis of the digits, using the chick embryo as an experimental model. Based on the scientific literature, and consulting online repositories such as GEISHA, we selected the Sox9, Scleraxis, Gdf5, MyoD, Cyp26A1 and BMP2 genes. Using the in situ hybridization technique in complete samples of the embryonic limb, we have obtained illustrative images of their expression patterns throughout development. We have thus been able to delimit in embryonic tissue, the regions where cellular processes occur in whose regulation these genes are involved, processes such as cell differentiation, proliferation, death or migration. The results of this essay offer a visual compendium of the expression patterns of key genes in the development of digits in the chick embryo, confirming the expression described in the scientific literature. We also review the functional role of these genes in the processes that direct the morphogenesis of the digits starting from the undifferentiated embryonic tissue.
