En el presente trabajo se realiza un estudio de la situación actual del desarrollo local en Cantabria. Partiendo principalmente del análisis de la situación actual y de los diversos factores que afectan al entorno rural y su crecimiento. Aspectos como la evolución hacia un mundo terciarizado o la concentración de la producción del sector primario, entre otros, serán de gran importancia para el desarrollo del trabajo. Del mismo modo, se hace hincapié en las funciones de los diferentes grupos de acción local en la comunidad de Cantabria, siendo herramientas fundamentales para el crecimiento económico y social de los entornos rurales en los que actúan.

This paper studies the current situation of local development in Cantabria. It is mainly based on the analysis of the current situation and the different factors that affect the rural environment and its growth. Aspects such as the evolution towards a tertiarised world or the concentration of production in the primary sector, among others, will be of great importance for the development of the work. Likewise, emphasis is placed on the functions of the different local action groups in the community of Cantabria, w hich are fundamental tools for the economic and social growth of the rural environments in which they operate.
