Abstract

The advancement of technology in the field of spectroscopy has allowed its application to completely different fields rather than the traditional ones. In this context, this Bachelor’s Thesis focuses on the application of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in the biomedical field. This technique is an useful tool for investigating tissue properties in a non-invasive manner and in real clinical scenarios. This study develops the application of the diffuse reflectance spectroscopy technique and its applications in diagnosing undesired effects in biological tissues. To achieve this, the main sources of undesired effects are applied, and the potential diagnosis and characterization of these effects are explored. Through experiments and data analysis, the aim is to comprehend how undesired effects influence spectroscopic measurements. Furthermore, potential clinical applications of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy will be explored, with the intention of enhancing the accuracy of diagnoses and medical treatments that can make use of this technique.
