Tratamiento de la pseudoartrosis del escafoides carpiano

Abstract

ABSTRACT : Pseudarthrosis of the scaphoid is a very prevalent pathology in our society, particularly among young people with an active life. This is because it is the main complication of carpal scaphoid fracture, the second most frequent fracture of the upper extremity, which is only surpassed by distal radius fracture. The delay in the diagnosis of the fracture, the precarious bony vascularization of the scaphoid, the location of the previous fracture and the presence of joint instability or articular collapse are some of the predisposing factors to suffer this traumatic complication. The main surgical techniques used to correct this pseudarthrosis are: the Matti-Ruse technique, the Fisk-Fernandez technique and techniques that use vascularized bone grafts with volar ap proaches, such as the Mathoulin technique or the Zaidemberg technique. Throughout this work, a comparative study is carried out between the rate of consol idation that is obtained in the surgical treatment of carpal scaphoid pseudarthrosis at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV) between 2010-2020 and a series of varia bles that have been collected in the databases of the medical records, that are involved in the healing process of this pseudarthrosis.
