Abstract

ABSTRACT : Persistent infection with oncogenic subtypes of human papillomavirus together with certain personal or external co-factors, mainly smoking, are causally related to the development of cervical dysplasia, which can progress to cervical cancer. The main tool for primary prevention is vaccination and the cytology-colposcopy-biopsy triad is the main mechanism for secondary prevention, followed by early treatment of these dysplastic lesions. In addition to further study and prevention of uterine cancer, a retrospective longitudinal study was carried out in this study including 99 patients who underwent outpatient treatment of high-grade dysplastic lesions during the year 2020 in the HUMV colposcopy unit, with the aim of finding out the reality of daily clinical practice and the characteristics of the patients treated in our setting.
