Microbiología y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible

Abstract

ABSTRACT : In 2015, the UN approved the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, an opportunity for member countries and their societies to embark on a path together with which to improve the lives of all, leaving no one behind. The Agenda has 17 Sustainable Development Goals, ranging from the elimination of poverty to combating climate change, education, women's equality, environmental protection and the rational design of our cities. Microbiology has a major influence on most of these goals, which is why this paper proposes microbiology-based solutions to address these problems. The proposals focus on the importance of the correct treatment of water for human use, sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry, research on multi-resistant bacteria and the growing concern about the future effectiveness of antibiotics, the production of different forms of energy using microorganisms, advances in microbiology applied to industry, and the microbiological approach to the pollution of marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
