Desigualdades funcionales y ecuaciones en derivadas parciales

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The study of functional inequalities is a fairly active area of research in Mathematical Analysis. This is partly for two reasons: these inequalities sometimes allow us to understand how function spaces are related to each other, and at the same time we can use them to prove several properties of certain partial differential equations. In the same way, sometimes the study of certain partial differential equations yields new functional inequalities that are interesting in their own right. In this dissertation we will study several functional inequalities for Sobolev spaces as well as some of their applications to evolution partial differential equations. We will also see certain results that go the other way round: they propose the study of a partial differential equation as a mean to obtain new functional inequalities.
