Abstract

ABSTRACT : Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in childhood and accounts for 15% of deaths from pediatric cancer in patients under 15 years of age worldwide. It is a very heterogeneous disease both at a clinical and biological level, which makes its diagnosis and treatment extremely difficult. In addition, in 50% of cases, the disease occurs very aggressively and with metastasis, with tumors that become resistant to conventional treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Therefore, the search for new therapeutic targets and the development of new therapies directed against this type of tumor is essential. Some of these new therapies are immunotherapy, small inhibitory molecules, and nanomedicine. Of all of them, nanomedicine has been the most innovative and promising alternative thanks to the vehicle of antitumor agents in nanoparticles that are specifically directed towards tumor cells, improving the efficiency and reducing the toxicity of conventional drugs. Thanks to these new therapies, a more personalized treatment for patients has been achieved and a greater antitumor effect has been achieved, thus increasing the survival of these patients.
