ABSTRACT: Spanish fishing industry is a traditional sector with a positive production system but whose domestic demand is in decline. It faces a particular crisis; it cannot live more anchored in the past. Consumers are changing their lifestyle and eating habits, so they must renew themselves to regain their attention. Despite being the largest in Europe by volume of catches, 19.14% of the total in the Mediterranean and the largest fleet, with almost 25% of the community capacity (Source Eurostat), the latest consumption trends are not positive at all, each we eat less of our own fish.
