ABSTRACT: In recent years the anti- European movement appears to be strong within the Eurozone. The BCE has played a crucial part in deciding the currency policy that is now being questioned. This essay will analyse the different currency policies since the 2008 crisis. Observing the financial crisis, the debt crisis and non-conventional politics. This essay also analyses the behaviour of currency politics as a primary tool and the interest rates between 2002 to 2019. With the gathered data we can analyse the interest rates of every country to compare to the official interest rate of the BCE. The purpose of this project is to analyse the disparities between the BCE's interest rate and the optimum rate of every country in UME. The results suggest that the loss of currency policy has been a major factor in Estonia, Greece, Lithuania and Ireland.
