Resumen: La relevancia del deporte ha de considerarse desde dos aspectos que, aunque distintos guardan relación entre sí. En primer lugar, aparecen los aspectos económicos a partir de los cuales observamos la repercusión del deporte respecto a la economía, en virtud de las variables: empleo generado, cifra de negocios, empresas vinculadas al deporte, gasto medio de los hogares y gasto público, ambos relacionados con el deporte. Además, investigamos el capital obtenido por algunos deportistas en diferentes deportes. Luego, tratamos el aspecto social, contemplando los gustos de las personas por el deporte, su práctica, y, finalmente, analizamos los deportes más practicados, así como los más vistos y seguidos en los medios de comunicación. Lo mencionado con anterioridad proporciona el argumento que justifica la figura del patrocinador y del marketing deportivo, reconocido como uno de los tipos de marketing existentes. Entre las numerosas modalidades de marketing, se estudian el marketing estratégico y el operativo en el que se sitúa la figura del patrocinio.
Abstract: The relevance of sport has to be considered from two aspects that, although different, are interrelated. First, there are the economic aspects from which we observe the impact of sport on the economy, by virtue of the variables: employment generated, turnover, companies linked to sport, average household expenditure and public expenditure, both related to sport. In addition, we investigate the capital obtained by some athletes in different sports. Then, we discuss the social aspect, contemplating people’s tastes for sport, its practice, and finally, we analyze the most practiced sports, as well as the most seen and followed in the media. The aforementioned provides the argument that justifies the figure of the sponsor and the sports marketing, recognized as one of the types of marketing existing. Among the many types of marketing, we study the strategic and operational marketing in which the figure of sponsorship is located.
