Abstract

ABSTRACT Theatre of the Oppressed is a theatrical methodology that has demonstrated its educational potential in more than 70 countries. It was born from the encounter between popular theatre and Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed. It was developed by Augusto Boal between 1971 and 1986 to give voice to the oppressed classes and transform society. It collects exercises, games, and theatrical techniques with which it is intended to analyze situations of oppression and look for alternatives to combat them. This academic work reviews the results of its practice in Spanish formal education and includes a didactic proposal based on this methodology for students in 4th year of ESO of Spanish Language and Literature. The main objective is to stimulate transformative creativity in students through playful dynamics, Image theatre and a Forum theatre creation workshop.
