Abstract

RESUMEN: Mediante este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se pretende presentar el campeonato cántabro de surf “La Vaca Gigante”. Se traza su origen, evolución y trayectoria, y se evalúa la importancia que tiene para Cantabria y España. Primero, se procede a situar este campeonato en el panorama de surfing a nivel mundial como a nivel nacional, resaltando las razones por las que el campeonato de “La Vaca” se va haciendo un hueco en los campeonatos de olas grandes, que cada vez son más famosos. A continuación, se analiza el perfil de turista y residente local que acude a este tipo de campeonatos a través de una encuesta a aficionados de esta actividad deportiva. Se indaga en las fases de organización del evento y los retos que supone su celebración a través de una entrevista con su principal organizador. Del mismo modo, se analizan el impacto y las repercusiones que tiene este tipo de campeonato para la economía local y las perspectivas de continuidad que tiene el evento.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this undergraduate dissertation is to present the Cantabrian surfing championship "La Vaca", trace its origin, evolution and trends, and determine the importance it currently has for Cantabria and Spain. Firstly, the championship is contexualised within the framework of the existing surfing championship circuits worldwide and nationally. The profile of tourists or locals who attend this type of event is ascertained through the conducting of a survey. In addition, the phases involved in the organization of the championship are subjected to study, being informed by an interview with the chief organizer of the event. Finally, the impact and repercussions that this type of championship has for the local economy will be analyzed, as will its future prospects.
