RESUMEN: Aunque existen algunos estudios al respecto con diferentes conclusiones, sabemos en la actualidad que una depresión tratada durante el embarazo puede originar problemas diversos: abortos, malformaciones fetales, restricción del crecimiento fetal y parto prematuro, entre otros. Por otra parte, los efectos de una depresión no tratada en la gestante conllevan una serie de complicaciones que suponen también riesgos tanto para el hijo como para la madre, cuya gravedad irá en función de la afectación de dicha patología en la mujer, las principales podrían ser: deficiencias en la formación y desarrollo fetal por inadecuada alimentación o cuidados necesarios en el embarazo, parto prematuro, bajada del peso materno, etc. Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, es necesario llegar a una regulación del uso y/o retirada de determinados medicamentos antidepresivos en mujeres que padecen esta enfermedad y para ello debemos conocer cuáles son los efectos deseados y cuáles los que representan más riesgos de los principales grupos de fármacos utilizados en la actualidad y poder aplicar tratamientos lo más seguros posible en cada caso. Tras el parto habrá que realizar un seguimiento exhaustivo de la paciente como prevención o abordaje de la depresión posparto. El trabajo de la enfermera será conocer la situación anímica y psicológica de la paciente y su tratamiento para dar las pautas y el apoyo necesario a las mujeres que se encuentran en esta situación tanto durante el embarazo como en el posparto.

ABSTRACT: Although there are some studies in this regard with different conclusions, we now know that depression treated during pregnancy can lead to various problems: abortions, fetal malformations, fetal growth restriction, premature birth, etc. On the other hand, the effects of an untreated depression in a pregnant woman entail a series of complications that also pose risks for both the child and the mother, the severity of which will depend on the affectation of said pathology in the woman; the main ones could be: deficiencies in fetal formation and development due to inadequate nutrition or necessary care in pregnancy, premature birth, loss of maternal weight, etc. Considering all of the above information, it is necessary to reach a regulation of the use and / or withdrawal of some antidepressant medications in women who suffer from this disease and for this we must know what the desired effects are and which of the main groups of drugs currently used involve major risks in order to apply the safest possible treatments in each case. After delivery, the patient will need to be followed up closely to prevent or address postpartum depression. The nurse's job will be to know the emotional and psychological situation of the patient and her treatment to give the guidelines and the necessary support to women who are in this situation both during pregnancy and postpartum.
