RESUMEN: El estudio de los determinantes de la salud es un objetivo primordial en las sociedades modernas y merece un cuidadoso análisis económico. La mayor disponibilidad de datos unido a los avances informáticos han permitido la realización de estudios empíricos que tienen importantes implicaciones en el diseño de las políticas sanitarias. En este trabajo se analiza el efecto de diversas variables de tipo socioeconómico sobre el estado de salud de los individuos en España y por Comunidades Autónomas. Para ello se utiliza la información contenida en el Panel de Hogares de la Unión Europea (PHOGUE) y la Encuesta Nacional de Salud (ENS).
ABSTRACT: The study of determinants of health is a key objective in modern societies and demands a careful economic analysis. The greater data availability and computer advances ti be carried out with important implications for planning health care policies. In this paper, the effect of different socio-economic variables on the state individual health in Spain and its Autonomous Communities is analyzed. Results are based on the information contained in the European Community Household Panel (ECHP) and Spanish National Health Survey (NHS).
