Abstract

In early modern Castile the cultural meaning of the word dishonestity frequently dealt with the idea of illicit sexual affairs. The history of sexuality, which has developed a lot in the last thirty years on Focault schemes, has mainly focussed on three basic points: sexual prejudgements, inhibitions and repression. Matrimonial and extramatrimonial sex as well as prostitution have also been well studied topics. However, historical resources didn't help very much the historical research on the connexion between sex and violence: sexual abuses. This is what I study in this article. I analize pederasty, sexual harassment and rape to get a general explanation on what «sexual abuses » or «dishonest abuses» meant in early modern Castile.
