La población inmigrante frente a las barreras de acceso al sistema sanitario

Abstract

En España en el año 2012, la población inmigrante suponía el 12,13% y en Cantabria el 6,61%. La publicación del Real Decreto-­‐Ley 16/2012, de 20 de abril, de medidas urgentes para garantizar la sostenibilidad del Sistema Nacional de Salud (SNS) y mejorar la calidad y seguridad de sus prestaciones ha modificado el acceso de los inmigrantes al sistema sanitario. Tras una revisión bibliográfica con la base de datos PudMed y CUIDENplus podemos decir que las personas inmigrantes son parte de nuestra sociedad, pero se enfrentan a dificultades para acceder al sistema sanitario como pueden ser las barreras administrativas, lingüísticas y factores relacionados con la interacción de los profesiones sanitarios. A continuación se describen todas estas barreras, pero más detalladamente lo que concierne al personal sanitario. El profesional sanitario se ha tenido que adaptar a esta nueva situación social, pero se carece de formación en competencia cultural para aplicar cuidados de calidad. Es imposible conocer todas las tradiciones, pero lo que debemos conocer como profesionales son los aspectos que pueden variar, es decir, la percepción de la enfermedad, las actitudes hacia ella, los tratamientos y los cuidados.
