ABSTRACT: The tourist industry has been grown in a significant way in recent decades and tourists' habits are changing very fast. Over the last few years, a new type of tourism with the cemeteries as main characters has become a trend: Necro-tourism. Tours to cemeteries mean not only a new way of doing tourism by visiting celebrities graveyards but seeing different artistic styles such as Gothic, Romanesque or Art-Nouveau, among others. In addition to examining the European Cemeteries Route, this dissertation seeks to give an overall view of Necro-tourism in Cantabria. The author focuses her attention on three cemeteries which offer guided visits or night tours.
